Services

All mahi-a-mahi is conducted supporting and promoting tikanga and kaupapa Maori.

TE AHI KAA: (Support Service Division) 
 
Established to provide support to Rangatahi (CY&A) and Pakeke (Adults) who have high 

and  complex support needs in the Counties-Manukau rohe (catchment ). Te Ahi Kaa has two 

core service teams they are:
  
Rangatahi:

This service provides support and assistance to two target groups:

Advocacy/Peer Support - Families/Whanau (CYA)

This service supports and assists with Child Youth and Adolescent (CY&A) referred from 

Whirinaki (Counties-Manukau Child Youth and Adolescent Clinical Services) to Mahitahi 

where the following objectives are identified as being the need:

  • Youth 15 - 19yrs experiencing mental health disruption, and
  • Their whanau accessing mental health community services to help reduce the on-set of presentation

RPM - CY&A - Individual Packages of Care

A joint venture initiative between Richmond (R), Penina Pacific (P) and Mahitahi (M)   where

staff from each service comprise the pool of support to provide  intense support   as identified 

by the team at RPM

  • age (determined by input from clinical, community and RPM staff)
  • need (Identified by clinical, community, whanau and RPM staff )
  • location (Counties-Manukau)  

 Pakeke:

The adult team provide community, mobile and living service support for people with  

high complex needs, and where such needs require specific support:

 Iwi Support  Services - Pakeke 

  • Adults with high psychiatric support  needs, and
  • re-curring  admission

Mobile Community Services - Pakeke

  • Adults with dual and complex needs requiring highly focussed support to effect                                                     their goals and aspirations
  • 1:1 specific support where time and resources are target specific
  • Support to engage in the community effectively with personalised support

Community Living Services - Pakeke

  • Assistance to establish secure accomodation of choice
  • support to retain secure environment
  • reduce and minimise continual mental health clinical service intervention

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

Te Ara Mahinga 

 (Employment Support Service)

 

Te Ara Mahinga  provides employment support for people who with a disability wish to

enter or re-enter meaningful employment whether part-time or full-time.

Criteria for eligibility can be identified at the time of referral and may include processes 

such as job identification and match, job suitability, career plan to name a few.

Such processes are in place to ensure that at time of employment placement there is a high

degree of confidence that the placement will succeed.

Te Oho Mauri

( Whaiora Day Support and Training Division ) 


Is the tuakana service of Mahitahi and established as a vocational programme for Taangata Whai

Ora seeking to enhance and promote their lifeskills using the medium of kaupapa  Mâori.

Kahurangi - Private Training Establishment

                                    (NZQA Level 5 Approved)

Kahurangi was established in 2000 to provide upskilling for Maori mental health staff to

help formalise their experiences using Maori models of wellness and assistance to better

the position of tangata whaiora and the organisations who support them and to do so in

an inclusive and shared manner . This national certificate course is designed to be

the pre-requisite qualification  requirement for people considering the field of mental

health as a career. 

Kahurangi offers training across two sites. They are as follows:

Tamaki-makau-rau Outpost

-  Rangitaiki Outpost

Site training completed at :

- Taumarunui 2007

                     - National Certificate of Mental Health Support Work Lvl 4

                 In-progress

                - National Certificate of Human Services Level 4 

                    - Diploma of Mental Health Level 6 (subject to approval 2008 )

 



Tomairangi:( Residential Support )
    
Tomairangi was established to provide Level 3 residential services that enhance Maori social and cultural significance within a domestic setting.

Kotukutuku: (Otara)
This service provides support and assistance at:

  • Level 3
  • Male
  • 24 hour care service 
  • Adults from 18+
  • 6 bed facility

Kouka: (Papatoetoe)
This service provides support and assistance at:

  • Level 3
  • co-gender
  • 24 hour care service 
  • Adults from 18+
  • 5 bed facility

 Kanuka: (Manurewa)
This service provides support and assistance at:

  • Level 3
  • co-gender
  • 24 hour care service 
  • Adults from 18+
  • 5 bed facility

 Kauri: (Takanini)
This service provides support and assistance at:

  • Level 3
  • co-gender
  • 24 hour care service 
  • Adults from 18+
  • 6 bed facility

Kowhai: (Papakura)
This service provides support and assistance at:

  • Level 3
  • co-gender
  • 24 hour care service 
  • Adults from 18+
  • 6 bed facility
